Friday 23 January 2026 Watch our for Changelings! This week in Literacy, we have read about a new creature which shape-shifts into children called ‘Changelings' from ‘Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You.' The children realised there is a ‘Changeling' in our class and wrote a letter to Mr Gately to persuade him to take action as this creature is dangerous and a threat to Two Waters School.

Thursday 15 January 2026 Robot workshop! On Tuesday afternoon, we were lucky enough to experience a STEM workshop by Amazon ‘Think Big' which combined Science with Computing. First, they taught us about hard skills and soft skills (e.g. resilience, team-work, communication, leadership etc). They expressed how future employers are mainly looking for candidates with soft skills as they are transferable.

Friday 9 January 2026 Friday 9th January - Fantastical creatures! This week in Literacy, we have started delving into ‘Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You' where we have discovered some strange, weird and wonderful creatures including the Cockatrice. This creature is part cockerel and part serpent and it can turn you to stone at just one glance! The children then wrote warning posters to persuade people to beware of the Cockatrice which included persuasive language, ambitious vocabulary, modal verbs and a range of conjunctions. Read Katie's ominous warning poster (if you dare!)

Friday 19 December 2025 19th December - Fairground Fun! This week for DT, we worked in a small team to build a rotating fairground ride for a winter wonderland. We used our design but adapted it as part of our construction process. Following on from our science lessons about Electricity, we built an electrical circuit with a switch, motor, pulley and axle. We made our design appealing to customers by decorating it with fake snow, rotating reindeers and a festive, glittery colour. This definitely got all all in the Christmas spirit!

Thursday 13 November 2025 14th November - Electricity is in the Air! In Science this week, the children have become electrical experts. They started off creating their own complete electrical circuit with one component (lamp, motor, fan or buzzer). Once they had successfully completed their circuits, they then conducted an experiment to see if adding an extra component would result in a different outcome. Following this investigation, many children discovered that adding an extra component meant that the electricity (voltage) was shared and so the parts did not work as effectively (e.g. the bulbs were dimmer). It is clear to see that there are many future scientists in the making!

Friday 7 November 2025 Friday 7th November - Super Space This week, in literacy, we have been delving into the world of space by referencing the book, 'Planetarium'. The children have been looking at all the features of non-chronological reports and learning some ambitious and effective new vocabulary linking to space. At the end of the week, they had to write introductions for their own books about Space and their aim was to hook the reader with engaging and enticing phrases, puns and wordplay. Enjoy reading Alaina's introduction and I hope you are excited about delving further into this fascinating topic....

Thursday 23 October 2025 Friday 24th October - Viking Art This week, for Art week, the children immersed themselves into different styles of Viking Art. They first learnt about all the phases of Viking art and what the stylistic features were, such as animal motifs. They then spent an afternoon, drawing a range of complex Viking knots which took a lot of skill and patience!

Thursday 16 October 2025 17th October - Viking Day Last Friday, Year 6 had a fantastic and memorable immersive learning experience during Viking Day. The whole day was packed full of 'hands on' experiences such as visiting a Viking hospital, making Viking necklaces to ward off the evil spirits and making their own Viking candles. In the afternoon, they became real-life archaeologists where they excavated artefacts and used their knowledge to decipher what they were used for and what materials they were made out of. The day culminated in a fierce Viking battle! What a day to remember!

Friday 10 October 2025 10th October - Buddy Assembly On Tuesday, Year 6 held a very touching and heart-warming Buddy Assembly with their Reception buddies in front of parents. Having spent time every week with their buddies, they described their personality, their likes and dislikes and what they would do if they were King or Queen for the day! There was not a dry eye in the house!

Friday 26 September 2025 26th September - House Captains This week was an extremely exciting one as the Year 6 children presented their House Captain speeches to the entire school. They spoke with eloquence and confidence and I was super proud to see them grow in courage. The rest of the school then voted on who they wanted as their House Captain and Vice-Captain (see photo attached). Well done everyone for participating!

Friday 19 September 2025 19th September - Green Fingers In Science this week, we looked at the four different plant classifications (flowering plants, ferns, conifers and mosses) and the children then created their own garden centre of plants according to these different categories.
