RE- Visit from the Synagogue

This week, we had a visitor from the Synagogue.
We learned about the different parts of a synagogue and what they represent for the Jewish community. We heard stories that are part of important celebrations such as Hanukkah. We were shown the different types of candles and how they are used. We got to look at and hold special signs that are hung on doors, the pointer that is used to mark where they are reading on the scroll and heard the sound of the shofar, which is made from a ram's horn.
We had a great time learning how to spell our names in Hebrew, dress up in Jewish clothing, eat Challah (special bread eaten to mark the Sabbath) and sing traditional songs.
It was lovely to see the children enthusiasm and hear them ask thoughtful questions.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Jones
