Friday 6th February - NSPCC Number Day

This week in Year 2 has been super fun and full of exciting activities!

On Thursday, we went on a sports trip to Longdean School. The children took part in a competition that included a range of different athletic activities such as javelin, hurdles, running, balancing and long jump. Everyone joined in with lots of enthusiasm and determination, and I must say they were absolutely amazing. They also represented our school brilliantly with their excellent behaviour—well done, Year 2!

Today we also celebrated NSPCC Number Day. To mark the day, we took part in lots of fun maths activities. We helped Rusty repair his circuits by counting in 2s, and we went on a shape hunt to find hidden shapes around the classroom. Once we found them, we counted how many faces each shape had.

We also learned how to count from 1 to 10 in French and practised this by completing a word search. Another exciting activity was making our own shape detective tools, which we can use to help identify different shapes in real-life situations.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed playing board games and used our computing skills to create our own maths quizzes on a spreadsheet. What a busy and brilliant week it has been! 🎉

Have a gorgeous weekend all,

Mrs Clewley
