Friday 2nd October - Melting fun!
What a fantastic week we have had in Year 4! We have been busy exploring, investigating and developing our knowledge across all of our subjects.
🧪 Science – Exploring Melting Points
This week in Science, we have been learning all about melting points. The children became scientists and conducted their own experiment to investigate how different materials melt.
We tested a range of materials, including butter, wax, and white, milk and dark chocolate. The children carefully observed what happened to each material and discussed why different materials melt at different temperatures.
The children thoroughly enjoyed getting hands-on with the experiment and were fascinated by the changes they observed. It was a fantastic opportunity to put our scientific skills into practice! 🔬
🌎 Geography – North America
In Geography, we have been learning all about North America. We explored the difference between physical and human geographical features and worked together to identify them on a map.
The children enjoyed locating different features and developing their map-reading skills. We are looking forward to continuing our exploration of this fascinating continent!
📖 Literacy – Arthur and His Golden Rope
In Literacy, we have started an exciting new unit based on the graphic novel Arthur and the Golden Rope.
We have been exploring the story and beginning to think about the features that make graphic novels so engaging. Throughout our unit, we will be developing our writing skills and learning how to use a range of expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases to make our writing more detailed and descriptive.
By the end of the unit, the children will have the opportunity to create their very own graphic novel, using everything they have learned. We can't wait to see the creative stories and illustrations they produce! ✏️📚
Finally, it was lovely to see some of you on Tuesday for the Meet the Teacher presentation.
Have a wonderful weekend all,
Mrs Clewley
