Friday 25th September - Melting and more

We have had another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 4!
🧊 Science – Exploring Temperature
In Science this week, we have been learning all about temperature and changes of state. The children particularly enjoyed our hands-on investigation where we watched ice hands slowly melt throughout the day.
It was fascinating to see the ice change from a solid into a liquid as the temperature increased. The children made some fantastic observations as they watched the ice hands gradually disappear. They noticed that the fingers broke away first, while the fists took longer to melt. This led to some great discussions about surface area and how different parts of the ice were affected by the surrounding temperature.
🌎 Geography – North America
In Geography, we explored the continent and identified some of its countries and major cities. The children have been developing their geographical knowledge and becoming more confident at locating different places on maps.
Next week, we will take our learning further by looking closely at the human and physical features found across the countries of North America. We are looking forward to discovering more about this fascinating continent!
✍️ Literacy – Persuasive Speeches
I have been super impressed with the children's writing this week! They have been busy creating their own persuasive speeches, carefully considering their intended audience and thinking about how best to persuade them.
The speeches have been fantastic to read, and it has been wonderful to see the children applying the techniques they have learned. Everyone worked hard to follow the success criteria, making sure that their writing stayed on track and included the features needed to make their speeches effective.
Well done, Year 4! ⭐ You have shown fantastic enthusiasm, creativity and determination this week. I am incredibly proud of the effort you have all put into your learning.
Have a lovely weekend all,
Mrs Clewley.
