In Year 1 this week, we have been preparing for our class assembly next week. We can't wait to show you what we have been up to and showcasing our recent learning. 

In Maths, we have been looking at shape. We have enjoyed making patterns with both 2D and 3D shapes, using songs to also help us name these shapes and distinguish them by their properties.

In RE, we learnt about the Jewish celebration of Shabbat. We explored how Shabbat is a day of rest for Jewish people and how it is a time every week for families to spend quality time together, and opportunity to not do any homework!  We made great links to our learning about light at Christmas, spotting a menorah on the Shabbat table.

Today, we celebrated Number Day. We played a range of games all to do with number. We read stories with or about numbers. We even made our own number stories with a partner. Not forgetting the dressing up! We saw real life number blocks and lots of patterns, checks, stripes, dots - the lot!
