February 13th - The week of weeks...
This week we celebrated Safer Internet Day. To mark the occasion, we by talking about voice assistants such as Alexas and Google Homes. We discussed what a sensible way is to use these devices and how they should be used. We sorted different requests that are suitable to ask a voice assistant, such as asking it to set and alarm or play your favourite song.
This week was also Children's Mental Health Week. With this year's theme being 'Belonging' we discussed our favourite places and special people. We explored how they make us feel and how important it is to belong, whether it is belonging in a family, a religion or a club outside of school.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed focusing on a range of drawing techniques during Art Week. They practised using different skills such as stippling and cross-hatching to add detail and texture to their work. We also explored how to use light and shadow to make our drawings appear three-dimensional, helping objects to look more realistic. To finish the week, the children created a still life sketch of a cut-up pepper, carefully observing shapes, lines and shading. They showed fantastic concentration, creativity and effort, and produced some wonderful pieces of artwork.
As World Book Day is fast approaching, please see some outfit inspiration for the big day, based on the books and characters we have looked at in Literacy so far.

Thank you for coming to see our class assembly today. We really appreciate all your support! The children worked so hard, even though it was a little nerve wracking standing up in front of everyone. Have a lovely half term break!
