19th September - Fantastic fables

This week we have started our new Literacy topic all about fables, we have learnt about the five key features of a fable and how the author creates detailed setting description within her writing. We have explored our previous learning from Year 2 of expanded noun phrases and worked independently and in groups to describe the setting of our favourite fables. The children used powerful adjectives and in depth description to describe the setting, picturing what they could see if they were inside the book! After writing and editing their setting descriptions, they worked in pairs to read one another their writing and it was their partners job to draw what they were describing, ensuring that there was enough detail and information for their partner to picture it in their heads! Well done Year 3!
