Awa Tribe - 17th October 2025

This week in class we extended our geographical understanding and looked at the Awa Tribe. An un-contacted and threatened tribe that live in the Amazon Rainforest (Brazil). In groups we used the knowledge learnt in class and through videos to help us compare our lives with the lives of those living in the tribe. It was a real eye-opener to see and understand how different people live, and gave us a real understanding of how lucky we are to live in a free country. We all felt very strongly about helping the Awa Tribe to continue living their life of harmony and tranquility, so took it upon ourselves to write letters to the Brazilian Justice Minister to pursuade him to help the tribe and stop the illegal activity that is happening in the Amazon rainforest. I couldn't be prouder of the class, they have produced some absolutely beautiful writing and should feel very chuffed with their outcomes.
