9th October - Show Not Tell!
We identified that fables overcome something scary, in order to learn something new. We looked at the ‘show not tell’ technique, describing the moment the mouse met the lion in our fable ‘The Lion Inside’.
The mouse’s heart was beating quickly. It pounded so loudly that he could hear it. His fur stood on end as he tensed. He wondered if he should turn back. He slowly raised his head to gawp at the beast. His eyes grew wider and a shiver ran down his spine. A tight feeling gripped his throat and stole his voice as he tried to speak.

We worked in groups to imagine we were Kevin, Cyril or the mouse and lion in those tense moments, acting out their facial expressions and body language.
