7th November - Falconry UK!

This week, our school had a very special visit from Falconry UK, and it was an experience we’ll never forget!

We were introduced to an incredible variety of birds, including a Northern Kookaburra, a raven, the second largest owl in the world, and even the smallest falcon in the world! Each bird had its own fascinating story, and we were amazed by how different they all were in size, colour, and personality.

One of the most interesting facts we learned was about the feathers that stick up on some of the birds’ heads. We found out that these feathers aren’t used for hearing or flying — they’re actually just there to make the birds look scarier when they feel threatened!

The handlers from Falconry UK were brilliant at explaining everything and made the session really fun and interactive. We got to see the birds up close and hold them, and the owl flapped its wings for us!

Hope you have a great weekend!
