6th March - Wonderful World Book Day and more!

Year 1 had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! We were very lucky to spend time with Year 3, sharing stories and reading together. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying books with their older friends. We also had a special visit from Miss Bulley, who read a story to us — we loved listening and joining in! In our special assembly, we finally found out who the Masked Reader was, which was very exciting. Throughout the day, we shared our favourite stories, showed off our amazing costumes, and took part in lots of fun reading activities. What a brilliant day celebrating our love of books!
In Art, we have been focusing on clay. Mrs Ali introduced us to the sculptures of Anthony Gormley. We recreated our own versions using clay and a range of tools. It was very messy, but we had lots of fun experimenting with shaping and moulding our sculptures!
In RE, we have been learning about Easter and Passover. This week, we focused on communion and explored the important symbolism of the wine and bread. We talked about what they represent and why they are special to Christians. To help us understand the process of communion, we even had some wine (juice) and bread (brioche). It was a wonderful way to bring our learning to life.
