5th June - What big eyes you have...

We started off the week with Mr M's PE lesson, where we learned all about running. We practised using the "lips to hips" method to help us use our arms effectively and improve our running speed. We also focused on lifting our knees high to increase our pace and make our running technique even better. Everyone worked hard to develop their skills and showed great enthusiasm throughout the lesson.
In Literacy, we started our new book, Little Red and the Hungry Lion, a twist on the traditional fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. We explored the similarities and differences between the two stories and discussed how this version might be different from the original. We made predictions about the lion's character and considered whether he would be similar to the Big Bad Wolf or if he might surprise us as the story unfolds. The children shared some thoughtful ideas and enjoyed making links between the two texts.

Year 1 enjoyed a special visit from Alexis from Reform Radlett Synagogue. Although we were unable to visit the synagogue ourselves, Alexis brought our learning to life by visiting us in school. Alexis showed the children a number of important Jewish objects, including a menorah, and explained their significance in the Jewish faith. The children were fascinated to learn about how these objects are used and why they are important to Jewish people.

We enjoyed asking questions and finding out more about Judaism. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding and make links with our RE learning. Thank you, Alexis, for such an interesting and engaging visit!
