27th November - Poems galore!

It has been another busy week for Year 1! In Literacy, we have been creating our own colour list poems. The children have really enjoyed being creative and using a wide range of adjectives to describe objects of a particular colour. Their imagination and descriptive language have been fantastic to see!
In Maths, we have focused on finding number bonds. Number bonds are pairs of numbers that can be added together to make a given total (for example, 6 and 4 make 10). Our previous learning about fact families also helped us this week. Fact families are groups of related addition and subtraction calculations that use the same numbers (for example, 3 + 7 = 10, 7 + 3 = 10, 10 = 3 + 7, and 10 = 7+ 3). This understanding supported us in finding multiple ways of making a certain number.
Thank you to all the parents who joined myself and Mrs Brady Turner for the Phonics Information Session earlier this week. If you were unable to attend, or would like to revisit any of the information, the presentation is available on the school website for future reference.
