27th February - swimming fun!

Welcome back! We hope you had a good half term break. Swimming started this week, and we had a fantastic time! The children worked hard to get used to the water and practised getting in and out of the pool confidently. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence and enthusiasm.
We are also delighted to welcome back Mrs Ali, our third-year BA Ed student, who has rejoined us until May. I’m sure you will join us in giving her a very warm welcome back to Year 1.
In PE this week, we began our learning about tag rugby with Mr M from CSE. We practised handling the ball and explored the basics of attacking and defending. We also enjoyed adding a game element by trying to collect as many of the opposing team’s rugby balls as possible. The children showed great teamwork, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the session.
A reminder that World Book Day is coming up soon. Children are invited to come to school dressed as a favourite book character. For a simple and low-cost costume idea, children could dress up as Stanley from Stanley’s Stick, our current focus text. This could be as easy as wearing everyday clothes and bringing a (safe) stick to represent Stanley’s special stick. Other favourite book characters are, of course, very welcome too!
