13th February - The Queen of Hearts

In Literacy this week, Year 3 explored the character of the Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. We looked closely at how she is portrayed in the story and discussed her appearance, thinking carefully about what she might look like. The children then worked collaboratively in groups to recreate her striking and dramatic look. After that, we focused on describing her character in more detail, using engaging adjectives and powerful adverbs to bring her to life. The children thought carefully about her personality, using evidence from the story to describe her as fierce, quick-tempered and angrily waving her hands. It was wonderful to see such imaginative ideas and thoughtful language choices in their writing!
