12th September - Maps and more!

Welcome to year 2! What a fabulous first full week back we have had! It has been so lovely getting to know the children and I am very much looking forward to this year! 

This week in Geography we have kickstarted our Geography unit all about maps and fieldwork. In this week's lesson we used a compass to help navigate our friends across the playground using geographical language such as, North, East, South and West. We then made our own treasure map and practiced guiding our friends using the correct directional language to certain points on the map. 

I have been super impressed with the children's writing. This week we have been reading the book The Frog and the Stranger. We have been focusing on all of the characters and used adjectives to help describe their actions within the story. The children have been working extremely hard to ensure their work is neatly presented and I am looking forward to the rest of our writing tasks based on this story.
