17th January - Exploring Judaism and sorting in Science

The children have worked their socks off this week, getting to grips with numbers to 20 (understanding the composition of numbers such as 16, 17 and 18) and practising their ball skills in PE. In computing, they have looked at algorithms and had great fun designing their own butterflies in a graphics package before following an algorithm to create a bird. They realised that following the algorithm accurately meant that all the birds looked the same. We were delighted to welcome Mrs Griffiths on Wednesday afternoon as she shared her knowledge of the Jewish community in our RE lessons. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and we hope Mrs Griffiths will come and talk to us again soon! In science, the children have continued to explore vertebrate animals, and this week focused on birds, identifying the characteristics that make a bird a bird!

Next week, in literacy, we will be using the outdoor mud kitchen. The children will be creating their own recipe for a ‘mud pie’ as part of our ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ unit. Please could you send in a pair of wellies for your child to wear next week. Thank you.

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Hunter
